Superintendent Brizard is gone but his proposed budget is still here and it is still unacceptable. We cannot allow a budget that is balanced on the backs of the schools. Brizard’s budget proposes massive cuts to the schools while leaving the central office barely unscathed (an office that has 100 more administrators than Buffalo- costing an additional $10 million. In fact his budget calls for adding more administrators)? We can’t afford to continue to move forward on costly initiatives that were begun with no community input (ideas Brizard got from billionaire Eli Broad, former CEO of AIG).
The school board needs to reject his proposed budget and pass a budget that maintains funding for schools and require a more transparent process.
